Job summary

East West Railway Company is seeking an Engineering Specialist - Telecommunications in Milton Keynes to oversee design and delivery within their technical function.

East West Railway Company (EWR Co) was created by the Department for Transport (DfT) to oversee delivery of East West Rail, from construction through to services running, making sure the railway comes together in the right way. The programme is projected to deliver a £6.7 billion annual boost to the regional economy by 2050.

Role Summary

As an Engineering Specialist (Telecommunications), you will be a subject matter expert, overseeing the technical aspects of design and delivery. This includes translating requirements into design requirements that meet the appropriate standards, and providing technical assurance of design and delivery work within your area of expertise.

Function

The Technical function owns the specification for the scheme, interpreting the business case and purpose and translating these into a system requirements set. Its work falls into two broad areas: establishing standards and requirements, and assuring that these are met during both design and delivery. This work spans a number of domains, each requiring specialist technical capability to provide the right level of knowledge, support and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Criteria

You will bring:

  • A background in telecoms engineering on infrastructure projects, in areas such as civils, structures, station buildings, station systems, electrification or signalling.
  • Expertise in one or more engineering disciplines, with a deep understanding of technical principles and industry standards.
  • The ability to solve problems and develop innovative technical solutions.

Desirable Criteria

It would also be great if you have:

  • Experience within the railway sector.
  • Authority to Work in a relevant specialist discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
