Overview

We are recruiting for a proactive and driven Engineering Shift Manager to lead a skilled team of engineers within a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with strong engineering knowledge, fault-finding ability, and experience in leading maintenance operations based in Rugby.

The Role

As Engineering Shift Manager, you'll take full responsibility for the engineering team on shift, ensuring all maintenance, breakdowns, and health & safety procedures are effectively managed. You'll play a key role in driving equipment reliability, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring minimal downtime across production lines.

Shift Pattern
  • 4 on 4 off
  • Rotating Days & Nights (12-hour shifts)
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the engineering team during your shift
  • Manage and prioritise PPM, reactive maintenance, and breakdowns
  • Support fault finding and resolution - ideally with knowledge of PLCs
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and ensure compliance at all times
  • Monitor and report on performance metrics, downtime, and improvements
  • Work collaboratively with production, quality, and CI teams to deliver site goals
  • Provide technical support and coaching to engineers and apprentices
What You\'ll Need
  • Strong engineering background - electrical or mechanical bias
  • Experience in a fast-paced FMCG / manufacturing environment
  • Proven leadership skills within a maintenance team
  • Confident in fault finding, including PLC-controlled systems
  • Excellent understanding of H&S regulations and best practices
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
