Job summary

A leading engineering company in the UK is seeking a Safety Lead to drive safety improvement initiatives and culture across the engineering function. The ideal candidate will hold a Level 6 or 7 qualification and have experience in rail engineering or other safety-critical industries. This role demands strong data analysis skills and the ability to influence leadership for cultural change. A proactive mindset and a passion for sustainability are necessary, along with a willingness to travel across the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety improvement initiatives and drive a positive safety culture across the engineering function.
  • Develop and implement safety & sustainability strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, embedding a learning culture.
  • Develop safety reports and KPIs, using data to identify trends and drive improvements.
  • Conduct audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Skills

Experience in rail engineering, transport, or other safety-critical industries.
Strong data analysis and reporting skills
Ability to influence and challenge leadership teams
Proactive mindset with passion for continual improvement

Education

Level 6 or 7 qualification in a relevant field
Membership in a professional safety body (chartered or working towards)
