Job summary

Diageo’s Moray House site in Elgin is seeking an Engineering Safety Compliance Engineer to lead machinery safety across the lifecycle of industrial assets. You will ensure compliance with Diageo standards, manage risk-based safety enhancements, and collaborate with CAPEX and suppliers to drive safe, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Electrical qualification (HNC or equivalent) is required.
• Machinery Safety qualification (UCPD/CMSE/C&G or equivalent, or willingness to work towards).

• ATEX qualification (COMPEX 1-4 and/or 14 or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Lead a culture of safety for equipment from design through lifecycle across industrial assets.
• Ensure compliance with BS/EN/ISO standards, Diageo policies, and legislative requirements with suppliers/OEMs.
• Lead and support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions as SME.
• Provide PUWER assessments and machinery safety guidance across production locations.
• Coordinate PUWER reviews, update technical standards, and support tooling/templates improvements.
• Engage with multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise by risk or complexity.

About the role (TE)

Experience/skills required:

• Relevant Electrical qualification (HNC or equivalent)
• Machinery Safety qualification (UCPD/CMSE/C&G, equivalent, or willing to work towards)
• Safety (NEBOSH Certificate or willing to work towards)
• ATEX qualification (COMPEX 1-4 and or 14 or equivalent)

Experience

• 3-5 years in similar industrial environment
• Knowledge in CE marking
• Knowledge in machinery safety function design incorporating EN ISO 13849-1/ EN 62061
• Knowledge of The Provision and Use of Work Regulations (PUWER)

Safety

• Willingness and aim to lead a culture of safety of equipment, from design, implementation and across the lifecycle of industrial assets.
• Partner with CAPEX teams and suppliers to champion safety compliance to relevant BS/EN/ISO and Diageo standards.
• Ensure compliance with relevant Diageo and Legislative Machinery safety standards with suppliers/OEMs.
• Lead and or support incident investigation, root cause analysis and ensure completion of corrective & preventative actions as SME.

Machinery Safety

• Create, review, and update relevant technical standards for Machinery Safety to stay in sync with Diageo GRMS's
• Provide/update PUWER machinery assessments within GDBS sector production locations.
• Co-ordinate PUWER machinery assessments for agreed review period.
• Provide Machinery Safety guidance to site and local Governance partners.
• Support review and update of global Engineering standards and Legislation owned by others. (e.g. Packaging, FAT, Validation standards)
• Ability to engage with multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise based on risk or complexity.
• Demonstrate influence and leadership to build competency within multi-disciplinary project teams within SME remit.
• Maintain difficulty in equipment safety validation documentation.
• Use existing reporting tools and frameworks to provide PUWER assessment status & action management data.
• Capture takeaways during projects and improvements to standards.
• Support development of improved ways of working including new tools and templates.
• Support development of Machinery safety statistics and data reporting tools for weekly Data and quarterly reports.

Engineering

Apply Engineering technical expertise in relevant subject area to develop or approve safety solutions suitable for industrial applications on behalf of project lead. General technical awareness and understanding of wide range of relevant technical subject areas (e.g. civil, mechanical/process, electrical, process control systems) Translate non-technical project scopes into technical specifications to be used in engineering designs to stay in sync with Diageo internal or external standards and regulations. Consult with external design partners to ensure robust designs that meet safety and compliance requirements. Ensure installations meet required safety standards and support validation processes. Collaborate with technical SMEs to ensure collaboration with Functional specialties (PTT, OT etc.) Understand & interpret electrical drawings and SRCS validation reports. Find opportunities for cost reduction, sustainability improvements, and process improvements through optioneering for machine safety design solutions. Stay on top of legislative changes and translate impact on Diageo GE

Stakeholder Management

Actively manage relationships with site teams from Operator level (L6/L7), Leadership (L5) and Senior Leadership (L4) Support Lead PE and PE with comms & relationships with Suppliers on technical matters.
