Engineering Project Manager

Description

Are you an experienced project and people manager with a background in engineering or laboratory environments? We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead our Engineering Team at Scaled Solutions Ltd, overseeing a diverse portfolio of light industrial manufacturing, bespoke laboratory equipment builds, servicing, calibration and maintenance projects.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll take ownership of project delivery, team management, customer collaboration and operational excellence, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

About the role: Based at our main facility in Livingston, you’ll manage engineering staff working across workshop and laboratory environments. You’ll play a key role in ensuring high HSE standards, robust documentation and strong customer relationships, while supporting the continued development of innovative laboratory equipment used both in‑house and by customers worldwide.

Scaled Solutions Ltd is part of Celnor Group and is an independent laboratory testing and consultancy business serving the oil, gas and decarbonisation sectors. Alongside production chemistry services, we design and manufacture specialist laboratory instruments and test equipment used both internally and in laboratories across the world.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of engineers producing custom‑made laboratory test equipment
  • Oversee all routine servicing, calibration and repair of existing equipment, ensuring efficient allocation of work
  • Plan and timetable resources, equipment and consumables for projects and maintenance activity
  • Manage projects day to day to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Prepare proposals, quotations and technical reports in collaboration with engineers
  • Oversee the design, creation and documentation of test apparatus and associated manuals
  • Act as a key point of contact for customer communication and technical sales
  • Manage facilities requirements, liaising with contractors and supporting laboratory operations
  • Monitor HSE compliance across workshop and laboratory environments
  • Produce financial reporting for engineering projects and departmental performance
What you’ll bring
Essential
  • Engineering, technical or scientific expertise
  • A proven track record in project management
  • Experience leading and managing teams
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop a deep understanding of bespoke laboratory equipment
Desirable
  • Engineering qualification and/or hands‑on engineering background
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Practical knowledge of electrical and electronic systems
  • Experience with data acquisition systems
  • Understanding of good laboratory and engineering practices and relevant safety regulations
  • Experience with mechanical/electrical assembly, maintenance and repair
  • Familiarity with Swagelok, Parker or similar tube fittings, pneumatic or hydraulic systems, and workshop machining
