This role seeks a self‑motivated candidate to manage engineering projects end‑to‑end across Thames Water's operational sites and estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver a portfolio of Mechanical, Electrical and ICA projects, with typical values between £100 k and £1 m per project.
- Be individually responsible for multiple live projects, with additional projects in scoping and tendering phases.
- Develop innovative and modern solutions to operational problems, improving site efficiency and delivering value for money.
- Scope, define and cost solutions in collaboration with operations teams and contractors, ensuring cost‑effectiveness and minimal risk.
- Oversee health and safety policy, undertake monthly audits, and maintain compliance with CDM regulations.
- Oversee construction in line with internal policies and relevant industry standards.
- Collaborate with delivery partners and contractors to ensure on‑time delivery.
- Maintain compliance with Asset Standards and professional codes of conduct.
- Financially forecast all live projects and report on Value of Work Done (VOWD).
- Prepare, vet and approve pre‑construction information, proposals, risk assessments, method statements (RAMS) and construction phase plans (CPP).
- Commission, train and hand over completed projects to operations teams.
- Ensure completion documents—test certificates, operation & maintenance manuals, H&S files, as‑constructed drawings—are available and handed over.
Qualifications & Experience
- Background in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering preferred.
- Formal qualifications such as BTEC/HND in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- Experience in clean water processing and/or wastewater treatment (preferred).
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders simultaneously (internal colleagues, site staff, external contractors).
- Self‑motivated, able to work with minimal supervision and use initiative to deliver high‑quality work.
- Understanding of health and safety standards, particularly CDM (additional training will be provided).
- Experience in construction or engineering project management.

Location & Travel
Base location: Guildford. The role requires travel to multiple sites; a full driving licence, vehicle and insurance are required. A monthly car allowance will be paid.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
Salary & Benefits
£60,000 per annum (depending on experience), £4,500 car allowance, 26 days holiday per year (increasing to 30 with length of service), pension scheme, performance‑related pay, and access to various well‑being benefits.
