Duolingo is seeking an Engineering Manager, Notifications to co-lead a cross-functional team focused on growth, personalization, and reliable delivery of notifications to hundreds of millions of learners.

You will drive strategy, run experiments, and elevate reliability and observability while partnering with data science and ML to inform product improvements that move key KPIs. Relocation or remote work options may be considered, with a strong emphasis on hiring and developing top talent.

• The Notifications team sits in the Out-of-App Area within Duolingo’s Growth Pillar and drives user growth and habit formation by delivering the right message at the right time — and by operating the notification infrastructure that reaches hundreds of millions of learners reliabl
• As an Engineering Manager, Notifications, you will co‑lead a cross‑functional team with a Product Manager, partner closely with data science and ML, and own both product impact and technical excellence
• You’ll shape strategy, run fast experiments, and raise the bar on reliability, personalization, and delivery timeliness for one of Duolingo’s highest‑leverage surfaces
• Co‑lead a cross‑functional team with partners in product management, aligning on strategy, priorities, and success metrics for features that drive meaningful user impact
• Drive execution of projects from spec to implementation, experimentation/analysis, and ongoing ownership, while ensuring infrastructure reliability, scalability, and observability
• Use data and rapid experimentation to inform decisions; partner with internal stakeholders to design A/B tests and translate insights into product improvements that measurably impact key product KPIs
• Attract, grow, and retain diverse engineering talent; provide clear expectations, coaching, and career development, and build a healthy, inclusive team culture
• Set engineering quality standards and processes that balance speed and long‑term maintainability; proactively manage tech debt, product quality, and operational excellence
• Collaborate closely with product, design, research, and other engineering teams to deliver user experiences that serve user needs while being impactful towards business metrics
• Define team OKRs, ruthlessly prioritize, and remove roadblocks to enable teams to do their best work
