The Role
As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a multi-skilled engineering function, driving performance, and ensuring assets and systems operate to the highest standards. You will play a strategic role in managing complex food manufacturing operations, optimising efficiency, and delivering continuous improvement across the site. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you\'ll also play a key role within the site leadership team.
- Lead the engineering team, setting strategy and driving asset performance across a high-care food manufacturing facility.
- Champion SHE compliance within the engineering function and support best practice across the wider business.
- Develop and implement asset strategies to maximise operational efficiency and reliability.
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of food production assets.
- Use data and analytics to assess asset condition, performance, failures, and risks.
- Implement preventative and reactive maintenance strategies to minimise downtime.
- Drive engineering-led continuous improvement programmes, delivering cost-effective solutions.
- Manage capital projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and to budget.
- Maintain accurate engineering and site services cost plans, forecasts, and expenditure reports.
- Provide strong leadership, mentoring, and development for the engineering team.
Qualifications & Skills
- Engineering Apprenticeship and/or Technical Qualification (Level 3 or above).
- IET Wiring Regulations (current edition).
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of SHE legislation and compliance.
- Experience developing asset life-cycle plans, maintenance strategies, and business cases.
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
- Multi-skilled knowledge across mechanical and/or electrical engineering (PLC control, automation, pneumatics, hydraulics, thermodynamics).
- Minimum 3 years\' experience in a senior engineering role within FMCG.
