Job summary

HOCHTIEF (UK) Construction Limited on the Sellafield IDP project seeks an Engineering Manager to lead engineering support for work-winning and delivery teams, ensuring design aligns with safety, quality and contractual requirements. The role requires a degree in infrastructure engineering and Incorporation Engineer status (Civil).

Substantial Tier 1/2 construction/design experience and CDM Principal Designer duties are essential.

• Experience with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor in similar role and construction/design experience.
• Familiar with CDM Principal Designer duties and client processes.
• Knowledge of project contracts and clauses.

About the role

We are currently looking to recruit a skilled and motivated Information, Engineering Manager to join our Sellafield IDP project.

You will lead engineering support to the nominated HOCHTIEF Sectors / Projects, serving both the work winning and project delivery teams with the following key objectives:

• Leading management of engineering function in the sector / region.
• Being responsible for competence assessment of direct reports and other engineering staff, subcontract engineering and other technical staff.
• Ensuring health, safety, welfare, environment, quality are considered as a core function of design at all stages, decisions and outcomes clearly communicated to construction and operation teams
• Ensuring that projects deliver the contracted scope and company objectives using the highest levels of technical expertise and collaboration.
• Promoting innovation and alternative designs, engineering methods and the latest technology offering the best possible value engineering solutions.
• Help build the right environment so that we can recruit, develop, encourage and retain talented engineers to fulfil the present and future needs of the business.

You will provide the lead assurance role in design, construction, commissioning and handover for the projects under their responsibility and undertake the duties of CDM Principal Designer.

You will be required to the latest engineering developments, technology, innovations, methods and best practice in permanent and temporary works ensuring they are considered, developed, communicated and implemented both at bid stage and during construction.

Please note that this role will be office based 5 days per week until successful completion of your probationary period where you can then apply to work from home 1 day per week.

About you

It is essential that you are degree qualified in an infrastructure engineering discipline and are an Incorporated Engineer in Civil Engineering or similar approved by Principal Engineer.

You must have previous experience in a similar role for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Contractor and will have relevant substantial construction and design experience.

Understanding of the Conditions Of Contract and of the specific Contract additional clauses or contract amendments is critical.

You must be familiar with Client engineering policies and procedure and with the relevant stakeholder and other approval authority procedures while understanding of Client gated project process, site licence conditions and Client platforms / applications.
