Job summary

Kintec Global Recruitment in Manchester is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead design and delivery across a live water and wastewater portfolio. This role focuses on real technical leadership within a growing design-and-build workload.

You will lead projects from concept through to handover, collaborate with civil, process, electrical and HSE teams, and drive innovation across the business.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards (preferred).
• Strong commercial acumen: manage design budgets, timelines and resources.
• Confident collaborating across multiple disciplines in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving technical issues.
• In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards in water and wastewater.
• Proficiency with information management systems and design software such as AutoCAD or Revit.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering delivery across water and wastewater projects.
• Oversee the full project lifecycle from surveys to handover.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated delivery.
• Guide procurement and equipment selection within programme.
• Carry out site visits to monitor progress and resolve issues.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the lifecycle.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance across delivery.
• Prepare project reports and flag risks and milestones.
• Capture lessons learned for continuous improvement.

• Lead design and engineering delivery across water and wastewater treatment projects
• Oversee the full project lifecycle - surveys, design development, construction, commissioning, and handover
• Work closely with civil, process, electrical, and health & safety teams to ensure integrated delivery
• Guide procurement and equipment selection, factoring lead times into the project programme
• Coordinate external designers and subcontractors to ensure work aligns with project objectives and quality standards
• Carry out site visits to monitor progress and resolve technical issues
• Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensure consistent health, safety, and environmental compliance across delivery
• Prepare project reports and status updates, flagging key risks and milestones
• Feed lessons learned into continuous improvement across the business

Requirements
