Job summary

Stagecoach Kilmarnock is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our skilled team at the Kilmarnock depot. You will oversee fleet maintenance, engineering operations, and facilities, balancing current needs with future evolution including EVs and depot infrastructure.

You will drive safety, compliance and capability in day-to-day operations, with a focus on leading people, managing budgets and ensuring high standards for vehicle performance and presentation.

Qualifications

• Engineering experience in a relevant sector such as bus, coach, HGV, rail, plant, or automotive.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Proactive, organised, and safety-first mindset.
• Experience managing compliance, budgets, inventory, and health & safety practices.
• Passion for high standards in vehicle performance and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers, technicians, cleaners and apprentices to ensure fleet is safe, clean, and road-ready.
• Manage maintenance and presentation of 84 service buses and 5 training vehicles.
• Oversee depot plant and building maintenance, including compliance and health & safety.
• Manage day-to-day operations, resource planning, stock control, and procurement.
• Coach and develop team members with a focus on continuous improvement and talent planning.
• Work closely with the Engineering Director and gain exposure to regional/strategic projects.
• Maintain standards in line with DVSA regulations and Stagecoach's standards.

Looking to lead a skilled engineering team and shape the future of fleet maintenance? We're looking for an experienced and hands-on Engineering Manager to lead our talented team at Stagecoach Kilmarnock.

This is an opportunity to lead a skilled team within a modern depot environment, taking ownership of fleet maintenance, engineering operations and facilities.

You’ll play a key role in supporting fleet evolution, including electric vehicles and depot infrastructure, ensuring safety, compliance, and capability are built into day-today operations.

You’ll balance maintaining today’s fleet with developing your people and facilities for the future, ensuring Stagecoach continues to deliver safe, reliable services.

What you’ll be doing:
