Job description

About Us

Risk Ledger is developing a network of connected organisations, all working together to defend against cybersecurity attacks in the supply chain.

Organisations rely on us to establish trust, through sharing their security maturity and visualising the risks posed by their supply chain ecosystem. And we're already trusted by customers like ASOS, British Airways, BAE Systems and the NHS.

We are putting together an amazing and talented team from a diverse set of backgrounds and skillsets to drive us towards our vision. Risk Ledger is built on the respect we have for one another and our users, united by our shared values and mission.

Every one of us is still learning: it's how we grow as individuals. We're curious. We're ambitious. And we're humble and honest. At Risk Ledger, we aim high to find the best solutions we can and always put our users first.

The team

As an Engineering Manager, your primary goal is to focus on delivery of high quality software as well as team and individual progression. You will act as a leader focused on the outcomes of multiple teams, working to build autonomy and a high-performing culture, where decisions are effectively delegated, made, and communicated. Rather than acting as a filter and conduit, you will amplify and enable multiple teams to succeed while balancing technical requirements with business understanding.

In the role you will
Team and Delivery
  • Enable the team by supporting them to achieve their goals, removing blockers, and helping them measure and understand their own performance to achieve higher impact.
  • Drive strategic alignment by developing team charters (Team APIs) to align the team around a shared mission and broader product and business goals.
  • Build a strong product partnership with Product Managers to improve judgment calls on prioritizing technical investment alongside new feature development.
  • Ensure efficient delivery of outcomes by coaching the team to ensure delivery ceremonies are effective and essential information is communicated while respecting their time.
People and Culture
  • Focus on team development by providing ongoing coaching to engineers and establishing a culture of constructive feedback.
  • Cultivate an inclusive and a psychological safe environment that allows your teams to succeed and thrive.
  • Lead hiring and retention efforts by refining processes to build diverse, skilled teams and actively working to retain top engineering talent.
Leadership
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration by establishing productive partnerships across other teams and leading complex, cross-team projects when required.
  • Maximize business impact by balancing technical knowledge with business understanding to ensure delivery outcomes align with company goals.
  • Effectively navigate change management, helping teams evolve and adapt within changing technical environments.
  • Work with senior stakeholders, including the CTO, Head of Engineering, and Principal Engineers, to support the engineering community and drive the overall maturation of engineering practices across technology, people, and processes.
You’ll have
Delivery Management
  • You are an expert communicator capable of navigating complex stakeholder environments and managing delivery constraints, capacity, quality, deadlines without compromising the health of your team.
Technical Leadership
  • You are a customer-focused leader with a proven track record of managing technical teams to deliver pragmatic solutions that balance quality, security, and customer outcomes.
  • You have leveraged your technical background to coach engineers and drive engineering best practices, including agile methodologies.
  • From your time as a hands-on engineer, you will have gained experience on some of the technical stack and will be able to demonstrate this knowledge through the interview process.
People & Culture
  • You embody servant leadership, demonstrating a humble and considerate approach to teamwork while being deeply motivated by the growth and success of your people.
The perks
  • Competitive base salary
  • Generous EMI equity package
  • Private pension
  • 28 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Additional 30 days of unpaid leave per year to use as you wish
  • Ad-hoc companywide time off over the festive period
  • Private healthcare with AXA Insurance - including enhanced mental wellbeing coverage
  • Hybrid working policy, typically 2-3 days in the office
  • Enhanced family (parental) leave - gender-neutral policy, 12 weeks paid leave
  • 5 days Caretaker's leave
  • Enhanced occupational sick pay
  • £500 WFH budget
  • All the learning resources and books you want to aid in your personal development
  • Regular socials to unwind and have some fun
