As the Engineering Manager , you will oversee power engineering operations across Essex and surrounding areas, ensuring the highest levels of safety, equipment availability, and technical performance.
A typical day will involve:
- Leading engineering standards across multiple depots and supporting local workshop teams
- Driving a structured repair and maintenance programme for generators and clean‑energy battery units
- Implementing reliability improvements, service schedules, and compliance processes
- Managing parts control, warranty recovery, and repair tracking processes
- Developing KPIs and performance dashboards to enhance operational excellence
- Leading investigations into asset failures and working with suppliers on technical resolutions
- Supporting apprenticeships, training, and technical upskilling across the fleet
- Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety and statutory requirements
- Collaborating with regional teams to optimise resource allocation and customer support
This Engineering Manager position requires a strong mix of technical leadership, people management, and hands‑on operational expertise within power generation.
About You
- Strong technical knowledge of generators and clean‑energy battery systems
- Proven leadership experience within power generation, hire, or similar engineering environments
- Excellent people skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and influence teams
- A track record of managing multi‑site engineering operations
- Strong analytical skills with confidence in data‑driven decision‑making
- IOSH qualification (or willingness to obtain)
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently, manage changing priorities, and deliver continuous improvement
