H Squared Talent Ltd is partnering with a global instrumentation business to hire an experienced engineer to own new product development and the engineering function. You will lead a small team of engineers, technicians and apprentices, driving projects from concept through design, testing, certification and production handover.

This role offers autonomy in a flat, well‑established environment where you can shape both products and processes, maintain strong customer and partner relationships,

• Experience in new product development in an electro-mechanical environment.
• Track record delivering complex projects on time and to spec.

Aufgaben

• Owning delivery of NPD projects from start to finish - specifications, project planning, budget and resourcing, and hands-on engineering across electronics, firmware, software and mechanics
• Testing and validating designs and prototypes, and steering products through to certification and production handover
• Supporting the existing product range - fault-finding, obsolescence, and design improvements to cost, quality and performance
• Representing engineering with customers and distributors, including occasional international travel to understand customer needs first-hand

Lead engineering and product development for a global instrumentation business

Our client designs and manufactures automated testing instruments for scientific and industrial applications, exporting the vast majority of its products to research labs and manufacturers worldwide. We're looking for an experienced engineer to take ownership of new product development and the engineering function as the business grows.

This will be leading a team, as well as getting involved in designing, prototyping, and testing products. You'll lead new product development, and a small team of engineers, technicians and apprentices, taking accountability for delivering projects on time from initial concept through to certification and production handover.

You'll be joining a small, well-established business with a strong reputation and global reach. There's no bureaucracy to wade through here: you'll have autonomy, an important part of the leadership team, and you'll have the scope to shape both the products and the engineering function itself.

What you'll be doing
