Matchtech is seeking an Engineering Manager on a 6-month contract outside IR35, hybrid London-based, to support a portfolio of Solar PV and BESS projects across the UK and Ireland, working with developers, Technical Advisors, Owners Engineers and EPCs.

The role covers development, procurement and pre-construction phases, including due diligence, tender review, contract appendices, site visits in the UK and Ireland, and close collaboration with commercial and project teams to deliver outcomes.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Solar PV and/or BESS sectors.
• Background working for a developer, Technical Advisor, Owner's Engineer or EPC organisation.
• Strong understanding of planning and grid connection processes in UK/Ireland.
• Experience developing and managing EPC tender documentation.

Responsabilités

• Provide technical engineering support across Solar PV and BESS projects.
• Lead technical due diligence for acquisitions and project financing.
• Coordinate external Technical Advisors, Owners Engineers and engineering consultants.
• Support EPC procurement activities, including tender documentation review.
• Review EPC contractor proposals and technical submissions.
• Lead development of technical specifications and EPC contract appendices.
• Support interfaces with grid connection, planning, and development activities.
• Conduct site visits across the UK and Ireland.
• Collaborate with commercial, development and project management teams to deliver projects.

Engineering Manager

We are supporting a leading renewable energy developer in the search for an experienced Engineering Manager to support a portfolio of utility scale Solar PV and BESS projects across the UK and Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional with a strong developer, technical advisor or owner's engineer background to join a high performing team delivering renewable energy projects through development, procurement and pre-construction phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical engineering support across Solar PV and BESS projects throughout development and pre-construction phases.
• Lead technical due diligence activities for acquisitions and project financing.
• Manage and coordinate external Technical Advisors, Owners Engineers and engineering consultants.
• Support EPC procurement activities, including preparation and review of tender documentation.
• Review EPC contractor proposals and technical submissions.
• Lead development of technical specifications and EPC contract appendices.
• Support engineering interfaces associated with grid connection, planning and project development activities.
• Conduct site visits across the UK and Ireland as required.
• Work closely with commercial, development and project management teams to support project delivery.

Key Requirements

• Significant experience within the Solar PV and/or BESS sector.
• Background working for a developer, Technical Advisor, Owner's Engineer or EPC organisation.
• Strong understanding of UK, Irish and Northern Irish planning and grid connection processes.
• Experience developing and managing EPC tender documentation.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to support contract reviews and negotiations.
• Experience working across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Familiarity with Technical Advisors, EPC contractors, investors and network operators within the renewable energy sector.
• Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline.

Contract Details

Hybrid working with 2 days per week in the London office
Regular travel to Ireland as required
