Job description

Branta Recruitment are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a multi-disciplined team of engineers, delivering high standards of maintenance, safety, and operational performance across a number of sites in the Northumberland region.

This is a mobile leadership role with primary responsibility for managing day-to-day engineering activities, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and driving a proactive culture of safety and reliability across all assets and systems.

You’ll work closely with on‑site teams, contractors, and senior management to plan and deliver maintenance programmes, optimise asset performance, and ensure seamless site operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of multi-skilled engineers across several sites.
  • Oversee the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company and statutory requirements.
  • Manage budgets, contractors, and service providers to achieve operational excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes and standards.
  • Support and enforce Health & Safety compliance, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
  • Provide technical support and act as the escalation point for complex maintenance issues.
About You
  • Time-served Mechanical or Electrical Engineer (essential).
  • Proven experience in an engineering leadership role – ideally within Facilities Management, Maintenance, or Manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of building services, plant, and asset management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance standards.
  • Flexible, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities across a mobile remit.
