Job summary

Select Engineering Limited in the United Kingdom is seeking an Engineering Lead to oversee all engineering operations within our manufacturing plant, driving operational excellence and a robust preventative/predictive maintenance programme. The role will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team and improve plant reliability, efficiency and safety.

You will champion lean practices, implement TPM, 5S, and RCA, and drive SAP CMMS adoption while establishing KPI targets for MTBF, MTTR and OEE.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership experience in manufacturing or process-plant environments.
• Proven track record implementing lean manufacturing techniques (TPM, 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
• Experience transitioning maintenance strategies from reactive to preventative/predictive models.
• Strong knowledge of CMMS platforms, ideally SAP.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams in a 24/7 operation.
• Solid understanding of health and safety regulations in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance professionals across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
• Set clear performance objectives, conduct regular reviews, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
• Manage resource planning, shift coverage, and skills development to ensure optimal team capability.
• Act as the senior technical authority on site, providing guidance on complex engineering challenges.
• Lead lean initiatives across engineering and maintenance with KPIs like OEE, MTBF, MTTR.
• Oversee a shift from reactive to preventative/predictive maintenance and SAP CMMS rollout.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Health & Safety, and Supply Chain to align priorities.
