The role

As an Engineering Instructor, you’ll be at the heart of delivering specialist engineering expertise to the Royal Navy’s training pipeline. This is a unique opportunity to influence the next generation of Submarine Service engineering professionals, helping them develop the skills and knowledge needed to maintain and operate some of the UK’s most advanced naval assets.

Day-to-day you’ll be:
  • Delivering classroom and computer-based training to Engineering Equipment Maintainers
  • Collaborating with the training design team to update courseware in line with technical changes
  • Providing subject matter expertise to evaluate technical data and implement courseware updates
  • Supporting the development of new training materials and courses
  • Ensuring all training delivery and associated administration meets contractual and quality standards

The role is based onsite at HMNB Clyde, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours per week, with occasional late evenings.

Essential experience of the Engineering Instructor:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical and electronic systems operation
  • Recent hands‑on experience in the field with up‑to‑date technical skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire learners
Qualifications for the Engineering Instructor:
  • Recognised qualification as an Electronic or Electrical Systems Technician

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
