Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of design and drafting duties utilizing Computer Aided Design / Drafting (CAD)
- Supply detailed engineering drawings to the Engineering Department
- Participate in project work within the Engineering workshop
- Provide drawing work and support for producing a range of machines and spare parts for both the tile and brick divisions
- Support maintenance teams with improvements to production processes
- Work closely with the drawing office team, Engineering Staff and Engineering Team Leader, keeping the Engineering Manager informed of all developments
- Draw and design machinery and spares to a high engineering standard using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Negotiate prices and order parts required for maintenance and project work from reputable suppliers who understand our requirements
- Liaise with managers and chargehands from other sites that require project and development work; visit sites to take measurements and sketches of required work
- Record engineering CAD drawings and machinery specifications into registers sectionalised by machine number for ease of traceability
- Create spare parts manuals for a variety of machines at several sites
- Carry out risk assessments and method statements for on‑site engineering or project work to comply with HSE and internal standards
- Co‑ordinate with engineers and fabricators to achieve an end result that is on time and within budget
- Provide cover and support in times of absence for the Engineering Manager and Team Leader
- Ensure conformity with the company’s health, safety and environmental procedures, including consultation with the Health & Safety Manager where appropriate
- Commit to safe working and maintain strong experience of health and safety best practice
- Work in a busy environment and adapt flexibly to daily priorities to keep the factory running efficiently
Qualifications
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit) is essential
- Strong technical drawing skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Solid understanding of engineering design and construction principles
- Construction, Manufacturing or Engineering Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship
- Level 2 Award in 2D Computer-Aided Design
- Level 3 Award in 2D Computer-Aided Design
- Level 3 Award in Engineering Design
- Strong team‑playing skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of environment, health and safety (EHS) processes
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills

Salary
Average annual up to £35,000 + up to 6% annual bonus
