Sourcing Specialist - Engineering

Location: Newry/Lislea

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Sourcing Specialist to support UK and US operations. This is a technical, fast-paced role requiring someone who can step in quickly without extensive training. You will manage procurement, stock, asset records, compliance processes, suppliers, and operational support across engineering and field teams.

Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supplier Management
  • Source mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and industrial components and equipment.
  • Interpret technical specifications and verify requirements with engineers.
  • Raise and track purchase orders, manage lead times, and prevent project delays.
  • Maintain and manage supplier relationships in the UK and US.
  • Review pricing, negotiate terms, and approve invoices.
Stock & Asset Control
  • Maintain stock levels (spares, pumps, hoses, generators, etc.).
  • Update asset registers across yard, site systems and fleet.
  • Support cost-control and efficiency initiatives.
Operations & Logistics
  • Arrange equipment hire for projects.
  • Provide holiday cover for operations staff when needed.
  • Oversee goods receipting, documentation, and allocation.
Compliance & Imports
  • Manage customs declarations for US imports.
  • Maintain commodity codes, documentation, and regulatory records.
  • Renew EPA and NHTSA exemptions.
Insurance & Documentation
  • Manage renewals of UK/US insurance policies.
  • Keep insured asset lists up to date.
  • Support ISO audits and maintain operational documentation.
Essential Criteria
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in procurement, engineering operations, or a technical sourcing role.
  • Strong understanding of engineering components/equipment.
  • Able to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent organisation, accuracy, and communication skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Able to handle confidential information.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Minimum GCSE education.
Desirable
  • Experience in oil & gas, industrial services, or engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of ATEX, pumps, hydraulics, or electrical systems.
