Humes, an important Holcim business, has a long history of engineering precast and prestressed concrete solutions and, after one hundred years of manufacture, our product range has never been more diverse, competitive, or in‑tune with our clients' needs than it is today. Humes offers a range of solutions for bridges and platforms, road and rail infrastructure, tunnels and shafts, retaining walls, pipeline systems, water treatment, reuse and detention, and traffic management.

Opportunity

This is a superb, Brisbane based opportunity in which you will have responsibility and accountability for driving the Engineered Solutions portfolio within the local Humes precast concrete business. You will grow technical precast/pre‑stress sales opportunities and help set and implement the strategic direction – achieving sales targets whilst providing technical, strategic and marketing input.

Responsibilities
  • Successful attainment of specifications and technical support on specifications where appropriate to achieve sales objectives.
  • Pro‑active market coverage with specifiers, asset owners and regulators, contractors and developers.
  • Manage a small team of direct reports.
  • Face‑to‑face presentations each month as agreed with the local manager.
  • Active support to local sales resources to ensure accuracy and professionalism of solutions offered.
  • Assisting in the development of appropriate custom solutions for customers to ensure value‑based pricing principles can be implemented.
  • Attending to consultant/client enquiries and preparing engineered solutions, quotations and budget estimates in collaboration with Humes' technical teams.
  • Attending installations on occasion where there is an identified customer relationship benefit.
  • Preparing a yearly Territory Plan.
  • Ability to work with Tier One clients.
  • Participating in CRM activities, i.e. industry events and conferences.
  • Maintaining a record of marketing and CRM activities.
  • Undertaking regular market research to identify major projects within your region to ensure early and well‑positioned involvement.
Qualifications
  • Qualifications in civil / structural / mechanical engineering, or qualifications in business or other engineering related subjects coupled with relevant experience.
  • Experience in the civil or industrial manufacturing and sales environment will be highly regarded.
  • And/or experience in a consulting or tier One contracting environment.
  • A solid understanding of the civil engineering market.
  • Ability to obtain an extensive understanding of the design process and how consulting engineers interact with the industry.
  • An ability to marry Humes manufacturing competencies to customer requirements.
  • Ability to engage and build relationships with consultants, project managers and council officers.
  • Ability to confidently present to small and large groups of technically capable civil and stormwater practitioners.
  • Effective strategic and reasoning skills.
  • High energy and self‑starting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders is essential.
