Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is looking for an enthusiastic Engineer to join the Roads team in the Cambridge office. The role involves preparing designs, developing technical specifications, and supporting the Senior Engineers in planning and optimization. Candidates should possess a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and have experience in highways design alongside proficiency in Civil3D and AutoCAD. Responsibilities

  • Prepare designs and specifications according to DMRB.
  • Develop designs using Civil3D and AutoCAD.
  • Deliver work packages and manage smaller schemes.
  • Support Senior Engineers in planning and cost estimation.
  • Produce technical reports as required.

Job Description

WSP is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Engineer to join the Roads team based in our London & South East region (located in either of our: Cambridge, London (Westferry Circus), Basingstoke, Guildford or Southampton offices).

Your role will be at the heart of our high-performing team, using your technical skills and expertise to help us continue driving forward in terms of both technical quality and service efficiency.

You Can Expect Your Role To Involve
  • Prepare designs and specifications in accordance with Design Manual Roads Bridges (DMRB)
  • Develop designs using Civil3D and AutoCAD
  • Deliver work packages with scope to move up to managing smaller schemes
  • Provide support to Senior Engineers within the design team in planning, programming and cost estimation.
  • Support development of Graduate Engineers and Apprentices.
  • Produce technical reports as required
  • Undertake site visits to inform designs
  • Being active on several varied multi-disciplinary project/client accounts at any given time.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
  • A passion for design and developing innovative solutions, demonstrating initiative and ingenuity to solve engineering problems.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Highways design experience in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), TSRGD, Traffic Signs Manual and Local Transport Notes
  • A passion for design and developing innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in design and drafting tools like Civils3D/AutoCAD. additional skills in Bentely design software such asOpenRoadsDesigner/MicroStation would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with BIM environments such as ProjectWise, Autodesk Forma (formerly ACC), other Common Data Environments, CAD QA/QC processes, and collaborative digital delivery would also be beneficial.
  • Attained or working towards professional qualifications such as IEng, with demonstrable progress.
