Salary: £41,818.21

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Rochester, a Category C men's prison. Join a supportive and driven team working Monday to Friday/Sunday to create a safe and nurturing environment.

HMP Rochester operates like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to ensure smooth functioning. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, your work impacts prisoners, staff, visitors, families, and the wider community.

Work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all committed to making a positive difference and providing a secure environment.

Role Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Minimum two years' experience in a plumbing or equivalent role.
  • Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements.
  • Experience with commercial or industrial heating and water systems.
  • Qualified as a plumber to C&G 6035, C&G 6189, NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
