Job summary

Checkout.com is seeking an enthusiastic Engineer I to join the People systems team, focusing on Workday. The role involves owning day-to-day Workday functionality, working with the People Team and global tech groups to ensure accurate data flow between Workday, ERP, and the broader tech stack.

You will handle first-line queries, proactively maintain system health, and tackle complex issues while documenting processes and supporting upcoming features and upgrades.

Qualifications

• Workday experience administering modules, configuring BPs, security roles, and workflows (1+ years).
• Partnering with People Ops to optimise HR workflows in Workday.
• Experience in system testing, feature deployments, upgrades, and documenting tech processes.
• Desire to deepen Workday knowledge across modules.

Responsibilities

• Own the first line support for Workday queries.
• Maintain the core Workday HCM platform and reduce downtime.
• Resolve complex day-to-day Workday issues independently.

The Role

Checkout.com is looking for an enthusiastic Engineer I to join the team responsible for People systems. Their day-to-day focus will be on HCM queries about our People system - Workday. This is an early-career role for someone ready to operate independently with guidance - owning the day-to-day functionality in the core of Workday, rather than only handling basic break-fix work. You'll partner closely with our People Team and global Corporate Technology teams to keep critical data flowing accurately between Workday, our ERP, and the wider Checkout.com tech stack.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Own the first line support: Be the first line for queries coming into the team, and having the first opportunity to resolve queries.
• Optimise System Health: Maintain the core Workday HCM platform proactively to reduce system downtime and data errors.
• Resolve Complex Issues: Move beyond basic break-fix tasks to solve deep day-to-day functional system queries independently.
• Secure Data Flows: Partner with Corporate Technology teams to ensure flawless data integration between Workday and downstream platforms.
• Empower People Teams: Streamline HR workflows and reporting to improve the daily operations of global stakeholders.
• Drive Platform Scaling: Support upcoming feature deployments and system upgrades to match Checkout.com's rapid organizational growth.
• Standardize Support Processes: Create clear internal documentation and runbooks to speed up future system troubleshooting.

What We’re Looking For

• Workday Experience: At least 1 year’s experience or similar administering modules, configuring business processes, security roles, and workflows.
• People Operations Partnership: Someone with a passion for optimising HR workflows within Workday.
• System Maintenance: Experience managing system testing, feature deployments, platform upgrades, and creating clear technical documentation.
• Growth Mindset: Strong desire to deepen technical knowledge in Workday across all modules.
• Problem solving: Creative problem-solving skills with a strong customer service mindset, a positive can-do attitude, and a willingness to learn and develop. Capable of researching independently to find solutions to various issues.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English, with the ability to coordinate seamlessly with People and global technology teams.
