Job summary

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is seeking an experienced highway engineer to join the Highways Projects Team. You will help deliver schemes that improve safety, connectivity and sustainable travel across the borough, taking projects from design through to construction.

The role covers active travel, road safety, maintenance, traffic signals, bus infrastructure and developer-led schemes, requiring strong design delivery, stakeholder engagement and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in highway design and project delivery.
• Knowledge of highway standards, legislation and CDM regulations.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent stakeholder and project management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver highway schemes from design through to construction.
• Contribute to active travel, road safety, maintenance, traffic signals, bus infrastructure, and developer-led projects.

We're looking for an Engineer to join our Highways Projects Team, helping deliver schemes that improve safety, connectivity and sustainable travel across the borough.

You'll work on a wide range of projects including active travel, road safety, highway maintenance, traffic signals, bus infrastructure and developer-led schemes, taking projects from design through to construction.

We're looking for someone with:
