Job summary

Elis is seeking an experienced maintenance engineer to join our on-site engineering team at Rainhill. You will undertake remedial works on industrial laundry equipment, ensure safe and timely repairs, and keep Production updated on progress.

Working under the Engineering Manager, you will support continuous improvement, maintain compliance with Health and Safety policies, read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, and collaborate with contractors to keep assets reliable and

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing/process environment.
  • Engineering Level 3/4 NVQ; HND preferred; apprentice trained, BTEC.
  • Skilled in Electrical and Mechanical trades with pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical circuits and able to read drawings/schematics.
  • Self-motivated, able to make decisions and react quickly to the needs of the business.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team; proficient in MS Office; record PPM in CMMS.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake remedial engineering works on-site as instructed by the Engineering Manager; repair equipment safely and update Production on progress.
  • Provide knowledge and input into continuous improvement of plant and maintenance activities via small projects.
  • Ensure the Company’s disciplines, rules and standards are maintained.
  • As part of the Engineering team, improve equipment performance, reliability and running costs for parts and consumables.
  • Report incidents and near misses per Health and Safety Policies; follow safe systems of work.
  • Maintain Company assets to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Work with Senior Engineers and Engineering Manager to ensure contractors are safe on site and adhere to H&S rules.
  • Carry out activities in accordance with Site Health and Safety instructions and relevant engineering standards; share handovers daily.

The Opportunity
  • You will undertake remedial engineering works to industrial laundry equipment on site as instructed by the Engineering Manager. Repairing equipment in a safe and timely manner ensuring that Production is regularly updated on progress.
  • Provide knowledge and input into the continuous improvement of plant, machinery, and maintenance activities. Working with the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager to identify areas and via 'small projects' find suitable solutions.
  • To ensure the Company’s disciplines, rules and standards are maintained.
  • As part of the Engineering team, you always look to improve equipment performance, reliability, and running costs for replacement parts and consumables.
  • Report any incidents, accidents and near misses in accordance with Health and Safety Policies. Ensuring that safe systems of work and best practice procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • To ensure the Company assets are maintained to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Working with Senior Engineers and Engineering Manager to ensure that contractors are working safely on site and adhering to Health and Safety rules and procedures.
  • Guarantee all activities are carried out in accordance with the Site Health and Safety instructions and the SSG Health and Safety manual, as well as in accordance with relevant engineering standards.
  • You will maintain excellent communication between Production staff and co-workers and ensure all handover of ongoing activities is carried out every day, and sharing all other information and practices as required.
What We're Looking For
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing/process environment.
  • Engineering Level 3 and 4 NVQ qualification. A 'Higher National Diploma' will be a distinct advantage or C&G equivalent. Must be apprentice trained, BTEC.
  • Skilled in both Electrical and Mechanical trades with knowledge of engineering disciplines including pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical circuits and able to comprehend the relevant drawings/schematics.
  • You will be self-motivated, able to make decisions and react quickly to the needs of the business.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of management and staff and work as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. (Inc. use of MS Office)
  • To record PPM information into a CMMS system accurately.
  • A logical approach to fault finding with a high attention to detail.
  • Able to travel to offsite training facilities and other factories in the group, as and when required.
Desirable Skills/knowledge
  • Previous Industrial Laundry experience.
  • Steam systems and chemical water treatment - BG01 or BOAS accreditation.
  • Water network and heat recovery systems.
  • Electronic component fault finding and testing.
  • BS 7671IET wiring regulations.
  • Inspection and Testing C&G 2391-52.
  • Fabrication and welding.
  • PTW risk assessor and contractor control.
  • Legionella control, ACOP L8.
  • Small to medium sized projects, 6 Sigma and Capex.
  • IOSH managing safely
