Job summary

Funding Circle in London is seeking a senior engineer to evolve our loan infrastructure, ensuring accuracy, speed and simplicity. You will help shape back-end systems that power our customers' experience when they obtain a loan.

You’ll collaborate across teams, mentor colleagues, and apply Ruby or Python in a scalable, AI-enabled environment while embracing a growth mindset and problem-solving energy.

As a senior engineer, you'll play a critical role in evolving our loan infrastructure, ensuring accuracy, speed and simplicity. Our team are keen problem solvers, collaborators and innovators. • You have an interest or experience in relational databases, automated testing, microservices and/or event-driven architecture

• You are a teacher - generous with your time and expertise to teach stakeholders and our fellow engineers how to answer their own questions, and can explain complex problems simply


• You proactively problem solve, identify and confidently mitigate risks, issues or address weaknesses that arise in your day-to-day


• You have a strong sense of initiative, seeking out answers where they may not immediately be clear and driving clarity from ambiguity

• Experience working in Ruby or Python


• Strong fundamental programming skills


• Ability to quickly grasp and understand complex back end systems


• It's beneficial, but not essential if you have an interest in working with complex mathematical problems.


• Able to architect custom AI solutions and smart automated systems that are safe, maintainable, and aligned with our long-term mission


• Act as a technical bridge and mentor, training \"builders\" across the company to move from basic AI usage to sophisticated system creation.
