Job summary

Brainkind in Eastbourne is seeking an Activities Assistant to help service users participate in recreational and social activities. The role supports therapists and care staff to address cognitive, emotional, and physical needs and to promote independence.

No formal qualifications are required, but Level 2 in Care or relevant training is desirable. The post emphasizes teamwork, strong communication, and the ability to create engaging activities in a supportive setting.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications required.
• Level 2 in Care or other relevant subject/training is desirable.
• Understanding of health/social care sector work.
• Experience of working with people in a care setting or similar.
• Skilled in interacting with all types of people.
• Ability to develop and create a variety of interactive activities appropriate to the service user needs and wishes.
• Ability to assess effectiveness of interventions, review and amend them as needed.
• Proven experience of working within a team.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Able to work within policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Working with support workers and therapists to address cognitive, social, emotional, physical and functional needs.
• Facilitate service users in their chosen activities and support self-care where appropriate.
• Promote and respect service users' rights and preferences in their activities.
• Monitor well-being and alert senior colleagues as needed; help maintain morale and a safe environment.
