Job summary

Compass Lexecon in London is inviting applications for a six‑month internship focused on energy and carbon market modelling, financial analysis, and regulatory advisory. The role offers exposure to international projects and close collaboration with consultants across Europe.

The ideal candidate is completing a Master’s in a quantitative field and has strong analytical skills, English fluency, and an interest in energy markets.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Financial modelling and quantitative skills; hands-on experience with financial models (e.g., asset valuation, project finance, transaction support) is a plus.
• Proficiency in MS applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word; experience with programming tools such as Python or R is a plus.
• Fluency in English is required.
• French and/or German-speaking skills are highly appreciated.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
• Previous internship experience in the energy sector is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to economic and financial analysis in the context of the energy transition towards low carbon technologies.
• Support the development and enhancement of internal market and financial models (e.g. decarbonisation pathways, asset valuation, policy impact assessments, contract pricing).
• Conduct market research and policy analysis on electricity, gas, and carbon markets issues.
• Work in an international team on cross-office projects with colleagues across Europe.
• Present insights to senior team members and support delivery to clients (drafting, contribution to client presentations and expert evidence).
