Assessment of patients is provided by the Endoscopy Pre-Assessment team, prior to patients attending on-day for their procedure, where nurse-led consent is obtained. Further plans to develop this service are underway which will involve patients completing an online self-assessment. In addition, work is also underway to introduce a Transnasal Endoscopy (TNE) Service at the local Community Diagnostic Centre which will enhance local access to minimally invasive diagnostic procedures for upper gastrointestinal conditions, reducing reliance on hospital-based services and improving patient experience.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the Endoscopy team, delivering care and treatments to patients and their families throughout their endoscopy journey.
  • Support all areas of the patient pathway, and following appropriate training, support the pre-assessment service nurse-led consent, coordination of patient flow through the department from admission to discharge, including inpatient activity.
  • Registered nurses are also required to cover the ‘out of hours’ on-call service for emergencies.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Endoscopy experience and/or a minimum of one year’s experience working in an adult/acute environment with an interest in developing in endoscopy.
