Job summary

Fountain Diagnostic, part of LivingCare Group, is seeking a nurse or ODP to support the endoscopy and outpatients team. You will decontaminate scopes, prepare rooms and assist with patient care plans, reports and communications across sites.

Applicants must be registered with NMC or HCPC and have own transport for cross-site working. Excellent communication and infection control compliance are essential.

Job description

This post sits in the Endoscopy and Outpatients department run by Fountain Diagnostic, part of LivingCare Group, and is open to registered nurses and operating department practitioners. The work centres on supporting registered staff with patient care plans, decontaminating scopes, preparing clinical rooms, and keeping stock, audits and infection control in order. It includes cross-site working between units, so the post holder needs their own transport. Fit depends on NMC or HCPC registration and knowledge of an endoscopy unit.

What the job involves

• Support registered staff in delivering agreed patient care plans under local and national policy, including JAG
• Support the endoscopy team with decontamination of scopes
• Set up rooms and prepare clinical areas to service requirements
• Contribute to a team approach to patient care and attend regular meetings
• Contribute accurately to patient care plans, reports and communication systems
• Undertake tasks and procedures in which competency has been assessed and recorded
• Help create and maintain a welcoming, conducive environment for patients, relatives and carers
• Support auditing, stock checks and stock levels
• Keep the clinic clean and tidy, following infection control policy and procedures
• Take telephone and in-person enquiries courteously and greet visitors to the clinic
• Assist registered nurses and clerical staff with administrative duties
• Work across sites in other units where the service requires

Registration & licences

• NMC registration as a registered nurse, or HCPC registration as an operating department practitioner

Skills & knowledge

• Excellent communication and influencing skills
