A healthcare provider in Chesterfield is seeking a Band 5 nurse for the Endoscopy team. The role requires endoscopy experience or a minimum of one year's experience in an adult/acute environment. Responsibilities include delivering patient care, supporting nursing consent, and participating in out-of-hours on-call services. The successful candidate will be adaptable with strong communication skills. This is a fixed-term position for 20 months, enhancing local access to minimally invasive diagnostic procedures.
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Fixed Term/Secondment for 20 months, who has an active registration with the NMC to join the Endoscopy team in our purpose-built unit. We are looking for a nurse to join our friendly and progressive team, who has endoscopy experience and/or a minimum of one year’s experience working in an adult/acute environment with an interest in developing in endoscopy. The Endoscopy Unit is JAG accredited, delivering an endoscopy service which works flexibly to cover a 7-day service, including evenings and weekend working.
This busy department provides care for inpatients and outpatients having a range of endoscopic procedures, including upper and lower GI endoscopies, ERCP, Bronchoscopy and Thoracoscopy. Assessment of patients is provided by the Endoscopy Pre-Assessment team, prior to patients attending on-day for their procedure, where nurse-led consent is obtained. Further plans to develop this service are underway which will involve patients completing an online self-assessment. In addition, work is also underway to introduce a Transnasal Endoscopy (TNE) Service at the local Community Diagnostic Centre which will enhance local access to minimally invasive diagnostic procedures for upper gastrointestinal conditions, reducing reliance on hospital-based services and improving patient experience.
Chesterfield Royal Hospital is located in Calow, Chesterfield, on a green field site on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is home to the Crooked Spire and is also close to Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham, offering recreational activities and lifestyle options. Chesterfield Royal Hospital was officially opened by the Queen in 1985 and continues to expand and modernise, currently holding approximately 550 beds, providing acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.
