• Oversee diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures (e.g., colonoscopy, gastroscopy).
• Lead new initiatives as the service grows and support pre‑assessment and procedures as needed.

Job description

Endoscopy and Decontamination Lead at Sulis Hospital Bath, leading the JAG accredited endoscopy team and its decontamination suite. The post runs the daily service, including staff management, and keeps it within JAG, British Society of Gastroenterology and decontamination standards. It is a permanent, full‑time role within the Community Diagnostic Centre, with pre‑assessment and procedure assistance when required. Applicants need registration as a First Level Registered Nurse, at least five years' post‑registration experience and a DBS check.

What the job involves

• Provide visible leadership and coordinate the endoscopy service and decontamination
• Manage the daily running of the endoscopy and decontamination suite, balancing complex and competing priorities
• Manage staff and be responsible for the professional development and overall performance of the endoscopy team
• Ensure JAG accreditation standards are met
• Ensure British Society of Gastroenterology guidance and national and local decontamination guidance are followed
• Oversee diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including colonoscopy, gastroscopy, polypectomy, cystoscopy and TOE
• Lead the new colon capsule initiative as the service grows
• Perform pre‑assessment and assist during procedures under sedation or general anaesthetic when required
• Work in partnership with the Clinical Lead, Medical Director and CDC operational lead
• Act as a role model and contribute to the team's pursuit of excellence

What’s required

Registration & licences

• First Level Registered Nurse registration

Experience

• At least 5 years' post‑registration experience, 2 of them at deputy endoscopy lead level
• Substantial operational management experience
• Track record of effective performance at senior level

Skills & knowledge

• Extensive experience and knowledge of decontamination and national standards
• Involvement in JAG accreditation processes
• Track record of giving expert advice and guidance to multi‑professional staff
• Delegated financial management within budget, including delivering cost improvements
