The EMR Delivery Body administers two key government schemes:

• Capacity Market (CM), which ensures there is enough electricity to meet future demand
• Contracts for Difference (CfD), which incentivises investment in low‑carbon electricity generation

There is currently a significant focus on both schemes from DESNZ, Ofgem, participants and wider stakeholders to assess their ongoing effectiveness and how they need to evolve in the changing energy market.

As an EMR Policy Analyst, you will work within the EMR Strategy & Policy team to implement new policy, rules and regulations. You will work closely with EMR Senior Policy Leads to manage the development of EMR’s policy positions, while being supported to develop your policy development and project management skills. You will also contribute to NESO’s role as a trusted advisor to DESNZ, Ofgem and other stakeholders.

This role is based from our Warwick office, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

Key Accountabilities

• Develop and maintain an overall understanding of the policy, rules and regulations relating to the CM and CfD schemes.
• Support EMR Policy Leads in advising on and improving delivery of the CM and CfD schemes, including through working with the EMR delivery teams to identify issues and areas for improvement.
• Provide project management support to the EMR Strategy & Policy team, including through assisting with organising long‑term policy development and implementation projects, as well as providing day‑to‑day organisational support.
• Develop internal and external relationships, including with Ofgem and DESNZ, and represent NESO at external meetings.

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to engage with internal and external parties.
• Strong organisational skills with an ability to successfully manage multiple activities to tight timescales and continually prioritise workload in uncertain environments.
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills with an ability to quickly grasp issues and identify solutions, including those of a technical or operational nature.
• Experience in regulation or policy or interest in developing it.
• Project management experience is desirable.

What you’ll get

A competitive salary between £48,000 - £54,000pa – dependent on experience and capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on company performance, 26 days annual leave as standard and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
