Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a Full-Time Teaching Assistant to support pupils at a Weymouth school. Immediate start, long-term/ongoing contract, and a friendly, proactive approach are valued to help pupils overcome barriers to learning.

You will work closely with teachers, provide individual and small-group support, assist with lessons and activities, and help pupils develop confidence, independence and strong study skills in a calm classroom environment.

Qualifications

• No previous TA experience required.
• Experience in childcare, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, sports coaching, care, volunteering or similar roles involving children is welcome.
• Understanding of SEND and experience with autism/ADHD/learning or behavioral needs is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual support to pupils during lessons.
• Work with small groups to consolidate learning.
• Help pupils understand and follow classroom instructions.
• Support teachers with planned activities and lessons.
• Encourage pupils to participate and contribute.
• Help pupils develop stronger study and organisational skills.
• Support reading, writing, numeracy and wider curriculum activities.
• Reinforce positive classroom expectations.
• Help pupils develop independence and confidence.
• Provide encouragement to pupils who may lack confidence.
• Support pupils with additional learning needs.
• Assist with classroom resources and preparation.
• Maintain a calm, purposeful learning environment.
• Support pupils during transitions and other parts of the school day.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff.
• Communicate relevant information about pupils to staff.
