Job summary

Charles Darwin Primary School and Nursery, part of Inspiration Trust, is seeking a Classroom Assistant to support pupils with SEND and EAL, helping them access a modified curriculum.

The roles are permanent part-time positions (32.5 or 21 hours per week over 39 weeks), start January 2027, with no visa sponsorship. You will work under teaching staff, delivering targeted activities and interventions to accelerate progress.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age.
• Experience of leading interventions to support learning.
• Good numeracy and literacy skills are required.
• Ability to work effectively in a team under direction of teachers.

Responsibilities

• Work under the instruction and guidance of teaching and senior staff.
• Deliver care and learning programmes and activities for individuals or groups, including specialist support for SEND or EAL pupils.
• Carry out assessments and deliver speech and language interventions.
• Enable pupils' access to learning and help the teacher manage pupils and the classroom.
• Support children in the classroom and in small group interventions to accelerate progress.
• Support the teacher in delivering a modified support curriculum for SEN pupils.
