Job summary

West Midlands Police and Staffordshire Police are seeking an Employment Lawyer to join the Joint Legal Services team on a permanent, hybrid basis in Birmingham. You will manage a busy employment law caseload, including Tribunal work, misconduct, and regulatory matters as needed.

The role values energy and collaboration, with opportunities to grow into new areas and work closely with HR and senior officers. A strong background in employment litigation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor, barrister or CILEX lawyer.
• Experience in employment litigation, including discrimination or whistleblowing.
• Energetic, enthusiastic and collaborative problem-solver.

Responsibilities

• Defending employment claims, including discrimination and sensitive issues.
• Preparing cases for hearing, including working closely with counsel.
• Representing the forces in tribunal hearings (usually monthly).
• Providing advice on employee relations, policies, restructures, and HR matters.
