About Sizewell C

The Sizewell C team is one of the most exciting and largest new megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. We have begun constructing a 3.2-gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast in the East of England replicating, wherever possible, the design used for Hinkley Point C, another nuclear power station being built in Somerset.

When built, Sizewell C will be one of the largest power stations to operate in the UK. The power station will generate low carbon electricity for at least 60 years, supplying over 6 million homes and supporting around 7% of the UK's current electricity needs.

Our vision is to Lead The Way On Nuclear. We want Sizewell C to define what good leadership for the nuclear industry and British infrastructure looks like and deliver on it. We understand the feats of organisation, logistics, collaboration and imagination that building nuclear requires. We are building for the next generation for their home‑grown energy, energy price stability and ultra‑low carbon power in abundance. We also want to set the benchmark for maximising long‑lasting social value as we build and demonstrate how smart collaboration can work for the benefit of communities - locally, regionally and nationally.

We are the first nuclear power station in the UK to be funded under the Regulated Asset Base funding model (RAB). Our largest shareholder is the UK Government, alongside equity partners La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure.

The Role

As Employment Compliance Manager, you'll ensure that all employment and contingent workforce processes at Sizewell C operate in full compliance with UK legislation, company policy, and project standards.

You'll be the subject‑matter expert on employment law, workforce governance, and immigration compliance, supporting our transition to an independent, fully compliant organisation. This role covers employees, embedded contractors, and non-embedded contingent workers - promoting consistent, fair, and lawful practice across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead compliance across employment legislation and workforce regulations (IR35, Agency Workers Regulations, TUPE, Working Time Directive, GDPR, Health & Safety, Visa Sponsorship).
  • Manage SZC's Visa Sponsorship Licence and ensure full UKVI compliance
  • Oversee governance for contingent and embedded workers, including audits and risk assessments
  • Partner with HR, Legal, Finance, and Procurement to ensure consistent application of governance standards
  • Drive continuous improvement in HR policies, processes, and systems
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies
What We're Looking For
Essential
  • Significant experience in IR35 employment compliance, workforce governance and HR operations in a complex, regulated organisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK employment law
  • Understanding/ awareness of UK sponsorship process and immigration legislation
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced environment managing tight deadlines
Desirable
  • Knowledge of UK immigration legislation
  • Proven experience managing visa sponsorship compliance
  • Experience in large infrastructure or energy projects
  • Familiarity with HR systems (SAP, SuccessFactors, Fieldglass)
  • Audit or compliance certifications
Why Join Us?
  • Be part of a nationally critical project shaping the UK's energy future
  • Work in a collaborative, forward‑thinking environment
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Opportunities for career development and progression

If the above sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you!

Additional Information

When joining Sizewell C, you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group.

At Sizewell C we encourage and embrace diversity and how it can improve our experience and performance at work. It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility that we can explore, we are fully committed to local recruitment where possible, and those already holding the right to work in the UK.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

Qualifications

Join the team at Sizewell C. The power of good for Britain.

It's not every day you get the opportunity to shape the working culture of what will be one of Europe's largest construction projects, while also helping Britain to reach its target of Net Zero emissions by 2050. That's one of the reasons Sizewell C will be unlike anything you've ever experienced before, and you'll need to be an exceptional professional to reach the high standards this critical infrastructure project demands.

The UK is experiencing a nuclear renaissance and Sizewell C - along with its sister project at Hinkley Point C in Somerset - is powering the change. We're ramping up at pace as we look ahead to the Financial Investment Decision in early 2025, and the start of construction soon after. With government fully on board and public opinion shifting significantly in favour of nuclear, there's never been a better time to join our project.
