Employment & Pensions Solicitor / Associate | 1-4 PQE | Leading National Firm | Birmingham

BCL Legal is delighted to be assisting a highly regarded national law firm with a strong reputation across the Employment & Pensions sector. The firm is seeking an Employment & Pensions Solicitor (ideally 1-4 PQE) to join its expanding team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a broad range of employment and pensions matters within a supportive, collaborative environment that partners with clients making a meaningful impact.

The Team

The Employment & Pensions team is widely recognised for advising charities, housing providers, care organisations, local authorities, and schools. The team delivers clear, practical and commercially-focused advice across the full spectrum of employment and pensions law, supporting clients who deliver vital services to communities.

You will be joining a friendly, specialist team that values high-quality client service, collaborative working, and the opportunity to make a positive difference.

The Role
  • Manage your own caseload of Employment Tribunal matters for Respondents, including drafting, preparation for hearings, and advocacy where appropriate
  • Advise on employment status, working arrangements, and TUPE transfers
  • Support clients with employee relations issues, including disciplinaries, grievances, whistleblowing and discrimination matters
  • Advise on reorganisations, redundancies and settlement agreements
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients across the charity, public, health, housing and education sectors
  • Draft and advise on employment contracts, HR policies and procedures
  • Provide clear, pragmatic, solutions‑focused advice tailored to each client's needs
About You
  • You will be a qualified solicitor with experience in Employment & Pensions law, ideally 1-4 PQE
  • Confidence managing your own caseload, with access to experienced support when needed
  • Strong drafting, analytical and advisory skills
  • The ability to build and maintain excellent client relationships
  • Clear and confident communication skills
  • A commitment to delivering high levels of client care
  • A desire to develop your expertise while working on meaningful, impactful matters
