Education, Employment and Training Adviser

Service area: Virtual School - Safeguarding and Family Support

Work style: Flexible / Office-based / Frontline

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Education, Employment and Training (EET) Adviser to join a Virtual School service supporting looked‑after children and care leavers. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a tangible difference to young people's lives by improving access to education, training and employment pathways.

The role

You will play a key role in supporting children and young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET), or at risk of becoming NEET. Working as part of a Virtual School team, you will support and challenge professionals, influence outcomes and work directly with young people to help them achieve sustained positive destinations.

A key focus of the role is contributing to a Care Leaver Youth Trailblazers‑style programme, designed to improve education, employment and training outcomes through targeted support, employer engagement and partnership working.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage and support a cohort of looked‑after children and care leavers to engage in education, employment and training
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
  • Support and challenge professionals to prevent delays in appropriate EET provision
  • Develop and implement creative strategies to improve EET outcomes
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative EET data to inform service delivery
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across internal teams and external partners
  • Engage employers to develop work experience and work shadowing opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to performance monitoring and reporting
  • Support young people's transitions into further education, training or employment
  • Deliver training and guidance to professionals, carers and partner agencies
About you

You will have experience working within education, employment, training or children's services and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable young people, including looked‑after children and care leavers.

Essential requirements

Essential requirements include:

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Experience of achieving positive outcomes in education, employment or training settings
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and awareness
  • Good understanding of legislation relating to looked‑after children and care leavers
