Job summary

AKG UK is recruiting an Employability Support Tutor to run workshops and provide group and 1:1 coaching, helping learners overcome barriers to employment. You will plan sessions, monitor progress, and maintain records to ensure funding is evidenced. Remote with on-site delivery across Northampton, Luton and Leighton Buzzard.

The role emphasises quality assurance, safeguarding and CPD, with opportunities to collaborate with internal teams and external partners to drive labour market engagement.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering employability support.
  • Experience delivering accredited courses up to Level 2 in virtual and face-to-face settings.
  • Ability to plan and run teaching sessions tailored to individual needs.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with participants, employers and clients.
  • English & Maths GCSE grade C or equivalent or higher.
  • Excellent diary management and organisation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement effective support workshops based on participants' needs.
  • Collaborate with site managers to ensure courses meet local requirements and are promoted.
  • Support employment coaches to maximise participation.
  • Prepare participants with confirmation calls and set clear session objectives.
  • Utilise technology and applications to enhance learning; address no-shows and over-subscription.

Primary Purpose and Objectives:

With a passion for supporting individuals to overcome personal barriers to employment, the Employability Support Tutor will take responsibility for managing a schedule of workshops, providing support through group sessions and occasional 1:1 support.

The Tutor will motivate and engage participants who need additional support with acquiring employment and accessing job opportunities.

Utilising your experience, you will be empowered to plan and deliver innovative and meaningful support that positively impacts on participant labour market engagement, applying a range of learning methodologies to suit the needs of individuals.

A key part of the role is to effectively manage your workshop planning in line with internal and external quality requirements. You will be responsible for providing feedback, ensuring all stakeholders are kept informed of progress. Accurate records will be maintained to ensure funding that is invoiced is correct and can be evidenced sufficiently.

Having a passion for training and a belief in lifelong learning will be a key driver when supporting people through their job seeking journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Learning Delivery
    • Plan and implement effective support workshops based on the assigned participants’ needs.
  • Work with site managers to ensure that courses on offer meet local requirements and are promoted
  • Support employment coaches to ensure courses are promoted to maximise participation.
  • Prepare assigned participants through confirmation calls, putting them at ease and notifying coaches of any concerns
  • Effectively prepare participants by having clear objectives for each session and utilise technology and applications
  • Take into consideration fail to attend rates and factor in over-subscription for each course
  • Keep 121 sessions to a minimum of and are only utilised where appropriate
  • Quality Assurance
    • Participate in internal and external audits or observations to ensure teaching and learning quality meets organisational standards
    • Support with the development of participant resources to improve the participant experience through implementation of teaching methods and strategies in line with internal and external requirements.
    • Ensure all teaching activities meet the required standard
    • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to address areas of development as identified through sampling and monitoring activities
    • Participate in training to stay updated on industry trends and teaching methodologies
    • Maintain own Continuous Professional Development, ensuring knowledge is current and in-line with sector specific requirements.
  • Safeguarding and learner support
    • Adhere to safeguarding and health and safety policies, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Administration and Compliance
  • Deliver a high quality, highly engaging and flexible service that meets and exceeds the participant and employer expectations
  • Provide individualised training which stretches and challenges assigned participants to encourage them to achieve sustainable employment.
  • Review and develop training materials to enable innovative and purposeful support and utilise every opportunity to support participants.
  • Provide suitable feedback to participants to encourage growth, and self confidence that results in participant progression and achievement.
  • Maximise participant retention and timely achievement by motivating and inspiring participants through innovative teaching methods.
  • Continually assess, monitor, review, evaluate and adjust your delivery to meet your participant’s needs, minimising barriers to learning and achievement.
  • Provide careers information and guidance (CIAG) to apprentices
  • Work with apprentices on CV, interview and job searching skills
  • Recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns, following organisational procedures and making timely referrals to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) when needed.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance, addressing barriers to learning such as mental health, wellbeing, or personal challenges, and signposting to the learning support team as required
  • Foster learner confidence and resilience, encouraging open communication, promoting emotional wellbeing, and supporting learners' personal and professional development
  • Adhere to regulations related to education, safeguarding and health and safety
  • Effectively record and report information on referrals and plan for delivery
  • Ensure attendance registers are up to date and raise any concerns.
  • Maintain accurate learner records of learner attendance, progress and achievement, utilising PICs as an example
  • Manage own diary through the use of course booking platform and maintain a flexible approach
Essential/Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience of delivering employability support
  • Experience of delivering accredited courses up to Level 2, in both virtual and face to face environments
  • Experience of planning and implementing teaching sessions to suit individual needs.
  • A passion for learning and development and supporting others to start their employment journey.
  • Experience of building and maintaining good relationships with participants, employers and clients.
  • English & Maths GCSE grade C or equivalent or higher
  • Can work independently, with exceptional organisational skills, including diary management.
  • Effective communication skills; written and verbal.
  • Experienced Microsoft Office user
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines
  • A passion for learning and development and supporting others to start their employment journey.
  • Experience of building and maintaining good relationships with participants, employers and clients.
  • Teaching Qualifications
  • An Assessor and/or teaching qualification
  • An IQA qualification and experience of being an IQA
  • Experience of delivering digital skills
  • Knowledge of DWP funding arrangements
  • Knowledge of the ESFA funding rules
