Job summary

A leading educational provider in Southampton seeks an Employability Instructor to teach Functional English and support young people with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Responsibilities include delivering engaging lessons and fostering a positive learning environment. A recognized teaching qualification and experience with SEMH needs are required. This role offers a temp to perm contract with an ASAP start.

Qualifications

Overview

Employability Instructor, with English. Post-16 SEMH Provision, Southampton. Ongoing, Temp to Perm Contract - ASAP start.

Are you an Instructor Teacher/Unqualified Teacher/Tutor who enjoys working in an alternative provision with young people with social, emotional, and mental health challenges?

Do you have the skills to teach functional English and prepare learners for employment? If so, this is the ideal role for you!

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging lessons in Functional English (Entry Level to Level 2)
  • Support learners in developing core employability skills, including CV writing, interview prep, workplace behaviour etc
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and trauma-informed learning environment
  • Support learners' personal and social development alongside their academic progress
Requirements
  • Experience of working with young people with SEMH needs or in an alternative education/SEN setting
  • Strong knowledge of Functional English and employability frameworks
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PTLLS, DTLLS, CertEd, or equivalent) – or willingness to work towards one
  • Resilience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
