Qualifications

Casual Car Documentation

The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation.

Role Context

Manchester Adult Education has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivating Employability Lecturer to join our Preparation for Work team. The role involves planning, delivery and assessment of part-time adult courses, including:

• Short non-accredited sector specific courses (e.g., Working in the NHS, Working in Schools)
• Week-long employability courses
• Sector Based Work Academy and Support to Apply provision
• Accredited Entry 3 – L2 Employability skills courses (portfolio based)
• Accredited Entry 1 – L1 Enterprise qualifications (portfolio based)

Key Accountabilities

• Deliver teaching and learning to at least a consistently good or outstanding standard
• Assess learners, work accurately, both formatively and summatively, against appropriate awarding body criteria and course targets to ensure learners achieve their qualifications/course goals
• Take course leadership responsibilities
• Participate in team meetings and working groups
• Comply with service quality assurance procedures
• Comply with service policies and procedures
• Keep up to date in the subject area

About the Team

You will be joining a committed and supportive team of teachers who are passionate about supporting adult learners in the community to improve their digital skills to secure employment or advance to higher education. This is a casual role teaching daytimes and some evening sessions.

• A track record of delivering IT courses to varying skills and knowledge levels
• GCSE A* - C / 9 - 4 in English or equivalent (essential)
• GCSE A* - C / 9 - 4 in Maths or equivalent (essential)
• Teaching qualification, ideally to Level 5 or willingness to work towards
• Commitment to develop teaching skills and qualifications (essential)
• Open to newly and recently qualified teachers, as well as experienced teachers
• Professional and academic competence/qualifications to teach on the courses
• Experience with a range of teaching and learning strategies
• Experience with e-learning platforms such as Google Classroom or willingness to learn
• Flexible approach with strong organisational and interpersonal skills; ability to engage and develop adult learners
