Emotional Support Worker - Huddersfield/Halifax - Immediate Start

Our warm and welcoming school is searching for an Emotional Support Worker to help us continue building a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student can flourish both academically and emotionally.

We are looking for a caring and committed Emotional Support Worker to join our team as soon as possible. In this vital position, you will play a key role in offering personalised emotional support, helping students understand and manage their feelings, build resilience, and develop healthy coping strategies. You will collaborate closely with teachers, families, and external agencies to ensure that each child feels safe, valued, and supported.

In this role of an Emotional Support Worker, your day may include:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Creating and implementing individual support plans alongside school staff
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Guiding children in recognising, expressing, and regulating their emotions
  • Supporting the development of social skills and constructive conflict resolution
  • Monitoring student progress and reporting on emotional or behavioural changes
  • Promoting emotional awareness and wellbeing throughout the school

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional educational needs (beneficial but not essential)
  • A background in Psychology, Criminology, Education, or a related field (advantageous)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed
