Job description

Black Kite is an independent creative studio offering world-class visual effects and design. We are a talent-first, technology-inspired studio. Our community is home to a collective of top-tier talent. A group of artists, creators, designers, producers and technologists that have come together to make exceptional artistic visual content.

As an Emerging Technology Artist, you'll be joining an exciting team working at the intersection of creative vision and emerging technology — helping to grow this space at Black Kite alongside our Emerging Technology Creative, in a studio built around world-class VFX talent.

You will work with our Emerging Technology Creative, Creative Directors and lead artists across the studio, supporting how they develop and visualise ideas — from early concepting and pitch treatments through to execution on live projects.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the Black Kite team to generate visual ideas during the treatment and pitch process.
• You will translate creative concepts into compelling, production ready imagery.
• You will support project scoping and quoting conversations, helping production and creative teams understand what AI can realistically deliver on a brief.
• You will build and run AI pipelines and workflows to generate image and video content for live projects
• You will train and fine-tune models — including LoRAs — and work across a range of platforms to match specific visual styles, director aesthetics and briefs, building an expanding toolkit the studio can draw on across projects.
• Help bridge the gap between existing high-end VFX techniques and emerging AI-driven approaches.
• You will contribute to training initiatives and knowledge-sharing for internal Black Kite teams
• You will help educate and engage clients around our emerging technology workflows and creative output.
• You will stay ahead of the emerging AI space — actively seeking out, testing and adopting new tools, models and techniques, feeding your findings back to the wider team.

Why you?

• You are from a creative background; including but not limited to vfx, photography, design, fashion, mixed media, or motion graphics.
• You have a broad of the VFX process and what it involves.
• You understand how a strong image is built, not just how it looks.
• You have experience with a broad range of new / emerging technologies, including AI.
• You have experience building AI pipelines and workflows at a production level.
• You have experience using hybrid AI workflows.
• You have experience integrating AI with live action footage.
• You know how to get a specific result, how to course-correct when it drifts, and how to make AI output hold up in a professional pipeline.
• You follow what's happening in the emerging technology space closely, you're often the first to try a new tool or model, and you enjoy sharing what you know.
• You have and are keen to use your wider creative and technical skills and knowledge.
• You have a critical eye and a can-do problem-solving attitude
• You have a keen eye for quality control and visual style.
• You are an excellent communicator
• You are an excellent team player
• You always strive to produce outstanding visual results
