What we look for in your application:

Registered with the Nurse and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Registered Paramedic (HCPC).

Recognised Nurse Practitioner Qualification or Paramedic Care Practitioner course, which must include minor injuries.

Proven history of working in an A&E department or equivalent setting and performing the role of a Nurse/Care Practitioner, and can work as a responsible, autonomous practitioner in minor injuries.

Main duties of the job
  • Can work autonomously to meet the individual care needs of patients from the age of 1 year old
  • Demonstrates expert clinical decision‑making skills in the assessment, examination and treatment or referral of patients attending the unit
  • Has a caring and professional approach to patients and colleagues.
  • Ability to recognise and report any safeguarding concerns in both children and adults
  • Ability to organise the swift flow of patients through the unit safely & effectively.
  • Have experience of working under Patient Group Directions (PGD’s) for the supply of medications.

Qualifications & Training
  • Registered Nurse or Paramedic
  • Autonomous Training A33 or equivalent
  • Minor Injury University Post Graduate Course
  • Good knowledge of the Musculoskeletal system
  • Experience with reading x-ray imaging.
  • Independent Non‑medical prescriber
  • Evidence of further x-ray training e.g. Red Dot Course
Experience and Knowledge
  • Post Registration experience in A&E, UTC, MIU or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Good knowledge of wound management and wound healing
  • Have experience in medicines management and knowledge of working under Patient Group Directions (PGD's) for the supply and administration of medicines.
  • Ability to organise the swift flow of patients through the unit safely & effectively
  • Identifies and manages potential risks and incidents.
  • Report any faults and maintenance issues promptly to appropriate persons.
  • Knowledge and experience in following clinical pathways and with the NICE guidelines
  • Is aware off and follows the professional codes; NMC / HCPC.

  • Have good listening and verbal skills and able to communicate well with children.
  • Ability to recognize and report any safeguarding concerns that may be suspected in both children and adults
  • Has experience with smartcard usage
