Overview

We are looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join the Urgent Care Team at Hexham Hospital. The Practitioner will work independently treating a varied group of patients and will work alongside doctors, nurse practitioners and healthcare assistants in our Urgent Treatment Centre. Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust holds a sponsor licence for the Skilled Worker visa. Successful applicants must meet UKVI eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Independently triage, assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care in partnership with the patient and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Apply advanced knowledge and skills during the management and provision of patient care, working within defined parameters.
  • Discharge patients or refer to appropriate departments and specialities.
  • Promote health with all patients and carers.
  • Take responsibility on a regular basis for the organisation and co‑ordination of nursing services in the department.
  • Deliver governance standards in line with the 'Essence of Care Standards' and the Trust's Governance framework.
  • Practice within Emergency Nurse Practitioner Policies.
  • Support the Department Manager in her accountability of the department, members of staff, pay and non‑pay budget.
  • Assume responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the implementation of evidence‑based programmes of care after examination, investigation and diagnoses, providing accurate treatment.
  • Supervise, support and educate junior members of nursing and medical staff.
  • Exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Be responsible for all nursing care standards and maintain high clinical standards.
Requirements
  • Members of the Armed Forces and applicants with a disability requiring workplace support will be interviewed under the Trust's interview guarantee scheme.
  • Applicants must meet the essential criteria and fit and proper person requirements (FPPR) for additional pre‑employment checks in line with CQC and NHS England statutory guidance.
  • Must hold a DBS certification; successful applicants pay for their own DBS certification via a salary deduction from the first monthly pay.
