Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a Healthcare Support Worker to provide critical everyday care for patients at Queen Alexandra Hospital. The role is full-time (37.5 hours/week) and permanent, fitting within Band 3 salary range.

As an HCSW, you will assist with personal hygiene, monitor patient conditions, and ensure a positive patient experience. The ideal candidate will have qualifications in English and Maths and relevant experience in healthcare support.

Qualifications

• Completed Care Certificate or ability to complete within 3 months.
• Experience in an acute hospital setting or nursing home.

Responsibilities

• Providing care for patients and helping maintain personal hygiene.
• Monitoring patient conditions and reporting to the senior team.
• Recording information in patient administration systems.

Skills

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Good observation skills

Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively

Knowledge of infection control practices

Education

English and Maths qualification at GCSE/Functional Skills level 1

Level 2 qualification in a Health-related subject
