Job summary

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 7 Practice Development Nurse for the Adult Accident & Emergency service in London. The role focuses on leading practice development, teaching clinical practice and promoting outstanding safety and quality for patients and the team.

You will join a supportive nursing team, backed by the Matron group, with opportunities for development and education within a busy ED.

Qualifications

  • Post nursing qualification in a related nursing speciality.
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Teaching qualification.
  • ILS/TILS.
  • ALS/APLS.

Responsibilities

  • Lead allocated number of staff ensuring high quality and safe care.
  • Maintain an acceptable environment for patients, staff and visitors; report and take action.
  • Attend essential training/update sessions to retain clinical skills.
  • Attend and report untoward incidents in the department.
  • Complete relevant paperwork and communicate effectively with patients and team.
  • Care and control of medication, stock management and trust systems for safe administration.
  • Follow Trust policies to maintain safety and standards.
  • Undertake advanced practical skills after recognised training.
  • Communicate care information and manage queries with patients and MDT.
  • Attend team meetings and provide feedback to colleagues.
  • Assess care needs and implement programmes with junior staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge to act in emergencies.
  • Monitor hand hygiene and environmental cleaning practices.
  • Implement infection control principles and cross infection prevention.
  • Manage own team of nurses, HCSW and flow coordinator.
