Qualifications

Job description

The Dengie and South Woodham Ferrers Primary Care Network is looking to welcome an experienced emergency care practitioner/paramedic into our busy PCN. The role is offered on a full time basis for 37.5 hours per week. The post-holder will cover a designated zone and would not be expected to cover the whole area.

The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary; healthcare team, as you will work alongside fellow professionals within the practice in support of one another. There is ample opportunity for Continuing Professional Development and study time is allocated on a regular basis.

Main duties of the job
  • Urgently respond to referrals and provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment at first point of contact by attending to patients, according to patients needs either in the practice or patient homes;
  • Support and continue the development of an on-the-day emergency patient service in the practice;
  • Accurately triage and prioritise patients, including in emergency situations and telephone triage, demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of an event/illness, including past medical and drug history;
  • Evaluate clinical information from examination and history taking, and initiate appropriate treatment and/or referral;
  • Review the effectiveness of the treatment provided, making changes where necessary to improve patient outcomes;
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in an efficient manner.
  • Assist in developing a population health data-based model of proactive and sustainable care
  • Assist in developing a long-term educational program for wider PCN clinical teams
  • Develop PCN working within Integrated Neighbourhood Teams

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care;
  • Have completed ENP/ ECP Minor Injuries and Minor Illness course Level 6 and be a ALS/APLS provider;
  • Hold a full UK driving license
Experience
  • Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat and refer patients;
  • Be able to evaluate patient care confidently;
  • Have experience of working to protocols and guidelines;
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills;
  • Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively;
  • Understanding of the need to work within the parameters of one's own training and capability, according to the Health and Care Professions Council;
  • Experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working;
  • Able to demonstrate a broad and sound knowledge of complex and common conditions in primary care in both adults and children.
